Anderson Hay & Grain in Aurora, OR is looking for a dynamic Hay Buyer to join our team. The role involves purchasing hay in line with the Purchase to Budget plan and managing inventory and cash flow throughout the entire process—from initial purchase to final payment to growers. Accuracy in inventory management is crucial, ensuring that all hay is correctly categorized by grade. The Hay Buyer will collaborate closely with the Operations Team to ensure timely delivery to the plant and address any challenges that arise.
At Anderson Hay, relationships are at the core of our success. The Hay Buyer is expected to nurture strong, ongoing partnerships with our dedicated growers while continuously seeking out new growers to support our ongoing growth and success.
Pay Range: $80,000 – $90,000 DOE
Job Functions
- Purchase the appropriate quantity of hay at competitive prices.
- Oversee and manage inventory.
- Cash management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing growers.
- Identify and cultivate new grower relationships to drive business growth.
- Collaborate with operations to ensure seamless processes and timely deliveries.

- Engage with customers, showcasing hay and fostering positive relationships.
- Willingness to travel and commit to extended hours during harvest season.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of the export hay market.
- Established network of industry contacts, bringing valuable relationships to the role.
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively and make quick, accurate decisions involving numbers.
